What is more awesome or splendid or dangerous but above all challenging that a mountain. The sight of them, whether the Alps or the Tetons or the Rockies or the Himalayas evokes an emotion that is written deep in our subconscious. To get to the "top of the mountain" is a desire that many of us simply cannot resist. The danger must be challenged. For some, the mountain is a physical thing like Everest or K2. For others it is in an office or on a trading floor. But wherever it is, and however we see the mountain in our mind's eye, climbing to the top is something not many of us can resist.
